MATERIALS DONATION POLICY​

Please do not place donated materials in book returns or leave them outside library doors.  Make an appointment by emailing us: [email protected] 
We accept new or gently used:
  • BOOKS - paperback or hardbacks, with some exceptions. See to the right.
  • Sheet music
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • CDs/DVDs (no "For Your Consideration" discs)
  • Puzzles/Games​
​Many local thrift stores accept books and other materials as donations that do not meet our criteria.

We CANNOT accept:
  • Encyclopedias, Textbooks, Reference Materials
  • ​Withdrawn Library Books
  • Outdated books (scientific/medical/etc)
  • VHS/Cassette tapes
  • ​Computer software
Furthermore, we CANNOT accept materials in the following conditions:
  • Mildewed, mold, brittle or yellowing pages, bug infestation, stains, or dirty
  • Damaged - torn, missing pages, warped, wet, marked up with pen/pencil
  • Books missing cover jacket
  • Smelling of cigarette smoke or other strong odors
  • Books with broken spines or missing pages
  • AV Media that is copied, incomplete or without original case/notes​​
The Friends offers donated items first to the branch for inclusion in their collection.  
The rest are sold at our book sales AND our lobby book carts.   The money raised by book sales supports programming, purchases equipment and materials not included in the library’s budget, and maintains the Friends operating costs.  If you itemize deductions, your donation of materials may be tax deductible. At your request, Friends will provide you a receipt for tax purposes. It will be up to you to determine the value of your donation.
